Pool Coping and Surrounds

The coping tile is the natural or man-made stone or paver used to cap the pool shell wall. It is the first row of tiles that runs around the top of the pool. The coping tile is the first tile you’ll step on when getting in or out of the pool and is also the one you’ll sit on when on the edge of the pool. As these tiles are prone to heavy body and foot traffic, we suggest you think about having a profile on the end of the tile. Profiles like a bullnose, square edge, rebated and pencil edge will eliminate the sharp side of the paver, making it smoother and safer for a pool area.

Even though it is necessary to protect the pool structure, it also enhances the appearance of your pool and by using the one product, can be extended to your pool surrounds.

The coping also plays a part in preventing water from escaping or splashing out of the pool. It is also designed to stop the water from getting behind the pool shell.

Coping for concrete pools can be either natural stone, tiles, concrete pavers or decking.  Factors to consider should be durability, heat rentention, salt resistance, slip rating and maintenance.  Also consider your pool surrounds including landscaping, fencing and your house.

Pebble Masters has a vast array of pool coping choices on display such as travertine, limestone, marble,  porcelain, sandstone, granite and tiles.
